Travel Insurance - New York

I'm off to New York with my two daughters in August for 5 nights...can anyone let me know the best travel insurance deals. Thanks

  • Don't go for the cheapest cover you can find; make sure you have full cover for at least £5m on medical cover and that "repatriation" in the event of death or injury is included.

    Don't worry about the personal possessions cover - they tend to make a deduction for wear and tear and only cover you for up to £200 or £300 per item - not enough to cover an I phone or anything you may buy on holiday. Instead, make sure you have cover in your home insurance.

    Try phoning your home and motor insurers and see if they offer travel cover too - you never know, they may give you a discount!!

    Good advice Oscar, also if you are likely to travel again in the next twelve months you may find its only a few more pounds to arrange an annual multi trip travel insurance policy which is normally the case if any of the trips are to the USA

    Tesco have a 'one adult and kids (under 18) go free' travel insurance...medical is only 2 million though and not the 5 million that you said Oscar
