Open savings accounts with credit card providers

it can be a quite complicated and time consuming process opening new online accounts. what i have found when applying for an egg card recently is that i still had a savings account opened and active from about 3 years ago - it only had about £3 in it but it meant that i didn't have to send all my proof of addresses and all that jazz, i just updated my details and applied for the card. much much easier than starting from scratch. so what i suggest it that when you open your credit card - you open a savings account and keep a small amount of money in it. when you close your credit card account - keep the savings open and then in 18 months or so when you go to open again for stoozing purposes ;)) - hey presto it's dead easy to apply!

I think! can anyone let me know if they think this is a good idea?
