Can I make my pc quieter?

I have a Dell Inspiron 530S which I would like to use connected to my LCD tv rather than to a monitor like it is at the moment. It is a slim tower which can be used vertically or horizontally so will easily fit on the shelf under the telly.
It's graphics card is an ATI HD 2400 Pro. I have replaced the DVD drive with one which will also play Blu-rays and have added a sound card with optical output which I could connect to my receiver. The machine now has 4MB ram and 2 500GB hard drives and is running 64 bit Vista Home Premium.
This is all OK except it makes a racket! Can anyone please suggest what I can do to quieten it considerably?

Dell are a nightmare for compatible parts. On a normal computer I'd recommend replacing all the fans with quiet ones, including the cpu cooler and if it has one the vga cooler. Then replacing the PSU with a more quiet make.
However since your on a dell your might have a few problems getting third party hardware to fit.0 -
You need to identify the main source of sound. Usually it's the fans on the power supply, processor cooler, case and graphics card with some noise from hard drives. There's lots of this you can do though firstly clean the fans. You could also find that sound is transferring from PC to the cabinet so some sort of thin foam to prevent vibrations spreading may help.
You can replace the power supply, processor cooler and case fans with quiet components which will help significantly. However the slim case may reduce options. Here's a good place to look at options.
