going broadband ,can anybody recommend any particular modem for me, and price wise

Depends what you want / have.
Do you want to have multiple machines sharing the connection?
Do you want these machines sharing via Wireless Networking?
Do you have a network port on your machine?
(if no then it's either go for USB / or install a PCI ADSL modem or a network card).
