Hi all, I have heard rumours that I will be able to receive Sky channels in Switzerland if I take a sky digibox from the UK and set it up with the correct equipment
My question is does anyone have any experience of this and if so what exactly would I need ?
Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks guys looks like a decent pace digibox is required with a sky subscription - if anyone has experience of installing a satellite on their own please post your experiences
Thanks again0 -
Here is an article I wrote for people in Spain a year or so ago who wanted to install their own dish - some of which is valid for Switzerland:
http://groups.msn.com/PeniscolaOwners/satelliteinfo.msnw
As Switzerland is much nearer to the UK than the east coast of Spain, the dish size needed will be smaller (80cm?) and the model of digibox is less of an issue.
The angles specified are only slightly different: 150.4 azimuth and 32.7 elevation (using settings for Geneva as an example).
Thanks

It isn't meant to be allowed to use it abroad (for regulatory reasons or something), though they unofficially know people do, so you can either have the free channels only, or will need to subscribe from a UK address. You may occasionally get reminders from Sky about connecting it to the phoneline and have to explain why you don't (your holday cottage with no phone, etc).0

I've never had a phone connection on my box and it works perfectly. Sky since 1995; Digital since 1997; Sky+ since 2004.
The general consensus amongst expats is that if Sky get their money and the red-rag is not shown to the bull, they let you live in peace.
Basel will get away with a zone 2 minidish; come east and you're looking at 70cm for all channels with some loss in bad weather. My 1m dish never loses any Sky channels, including the 2D ones.
I've also installed a FTA system for my father-in-law down south. Any old satellite system will get Beebs and ITV.....for no monthly outlay.
edit: I should mention that I (ab-)use a UK address and of course with sipgate etc coming now, I do have a UK number should I wish to call....
Foreign credit card is ok for payment too :T
And if I lost Sky, the wife would divorce me  oops wrong icon :rotfl: double-oops
that's better ....
In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0
