Reclaiming RyanAir taxes back

Hi all,

I'm thinking of booking a flight in June of this year, but at this moment in time I am unsure whether I can definitely travel due to work commitments.

The fare listed on the ryanair website at the moment is very reasonable (£77), with the taxes listed at around £24 each way.

If in 6-8 weeks I am unable to go is there a way I can reclaim the taxes I have paid for the flights? I appreciate that I won't get a refund for the flights but getting the £48 back would mean that I get a fair chunk back.

Are you sure that £48 is all taxes, and not fees and taxes? Remember you can only claim back the tax part. AFAIK they also charge £30 admin fee for dong it as well.

You might be able to get the tax back but a) not all of what you call taxes are taxes - most are fees charged by Ryanair b) when you apply for a refund, Ryanair will charge you an admin fee If I was you I'd do something more profitable like banging your head against a brick wall

I was unable to take a flight I had booked this year.

I was told I could call up & request the tax back but there was an admin fee of (I think) £15.

As the actual tax was less than £15 nothing was paid. As the earlier post said, Ryanair don't quote taxes in isolation so you can't tell how much of tax/ charges are actually tax.

Therefore if you make this booking, don't assume you will get anything back.
