I know it's a bit off topic, but take a look here for a couple of years time... It's a method of teaching your child to cycle that I'd heartily recommend. It basically involves splitting out the 2 main skills of cycling, balance (includes steering) and propulsion. Read the article and when your mini-cyclists a year or so older, give it a go...
On the original topic, I'd go with 2nd hand if you can find one. Both my daughters have been cast offs and both have suited her fine (we're hanging on to the little one for sprog number 2...)

What about looking on the Grabbit thread - there is a link for a bike specially for little girl's for around £20 instead of £60 (use vouchers from discount thread) at Maplins. Admittedly it isn't a two wheeler but was very pretty for a little girl and specially for age 3-6yrs *I think*! It's about 4 pages in.
Just remembered it was called a quad bike!
