    I used to work for the police, and we had a policy regarding maternity support leave as well. Has she talked to the Personnel Department (or whoever handles maternity leave info) at her department? They should be able to provide that info. I was going to utilise it when my daughter went into labour with her child, as she had no other support but DH & I, but she went into labour during my long weekend, so had no need to use it.

    yes thats what she had in mind... she's booked holiday but if she could have the support leave she'd have more holiday to help out as and when..
