The 16k - is it all charges since 2001 ?
I think you need to give them a call and impress on them the urgency of the situation and detail exactly what would help and offer to fax info through and say they can pay direct if thats easier.
You definately need to go back to them HBOS are giving pretty dire offers first up but if you go back they will up it to cover at least a part of your arrears to take away the immediate threat.
Also are you getting help with your other debts and sorting out repayment plans?LegalBeagles0 -
The £16k is from 2002 (in Scotland we only claim 5 years).
I thought about calling them but they tend to be soooo unhelpful on the phone (not that they're particularly helpful by mail either mind you). I get scared of making phonecalls as I'm just so used to dealing with scary collection phone calls (although I tend to never answer these)....but I know it's for my own good.
As for our other debts, I completed income expenditure sheets, and the money that was left over (not much) was divided up pro rata across my other debts. I then wrote to the creditors asking them to accept reduced offers. 3 have accepted (got a letter this morning from one of them). Two have just ignored us, and 2 of them (both capital one) just keep writing back and saying they won't consider my letters because they are not signed. I wrote back to them asking why they require a signature, is it for data protection, and stating that they are happy to send sensitive information to me all the time blah blah...but they have just written back with the same letter asking me to re-send my request with a signature (not too sure what to do about them at the moment). The remaining 2 that have ignored me, I will write back to (for a 3rd time). :rolleyes:0
