IVA and renting

Hi everyone,

I was wonderig if anyone could help me? I am currently filling out the forms to rent a property and I am worried about the credit checks, as I am currently in an IVA. My partner has put that he shall be paying 100% of the rent, but they still need to do the credit checks on me. I am worried that it will come back that we have failed?? And I do not want to pay out £100 each for the fees for the checks if it is going to come back that it has failed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

  • It's going to be down to the LL to interpret what he will from the results of the credit checks. If he doesn't mind the IVA if your OH is working then great, otherwise he may ask for a guarantor.

Discuss it first, no point paying the checking fee if you know you will be turned down.

If your partner is paying all the rent ask if the tenancy can be in that name and you be a permitted occupier.

  • Hi, thanks for the replies.

We are going through a letting agent, will that make a difference??

Hi Olivia, have you had any luck? I am applying for a rental property tomorrow and also scared of failing the credit checks!
