  • i thin the people who put bogus bids are idiots, they think theyre funny but actually costs ordinary people time and money.

It wont be long long before these people will be held accountable for the bid....that will wipe the smug grin off their face....

If you go to a proper auction....you would be in serious trouble if you didnt pay.

Check out one of the guys selling on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11328&item=8153312625&rd=1

If you look at his purchases 3 buyers are new and have 0 feedback - wonder if he's gonna get paid  :)
could easily be people from here who havent been on there before looking to buy a ps2. sold loads on there to new members with no feedback and had no problems before.
on a lighter note got my ps2 this morning from boots. forgot to get the 10% discount but at least i've got one now.
  • I wasn't encouraging that in my msg before!!! I posted a few comments on the eBay board last night as I'm constantly hit by people with 0 feedback who don't pay and the usual 'can you post it to Nigeria and we'll pay you by Western Union money transfer' so I hate it just as much as you do. Just thought i'd point it out but I'm guessin it came across wrong.

I think it's the seller bidding on his own auction to get the price up. Common practise. ::)

Yep....and eBay do nothing about it, even when it's a Powerseller :o

I've lost you? It is a fixed price buy it now product - you can't up the price on it! It isn't an auction. And I don't think a seller (company) with over 7000 feedback would up the price on their own products...too much to lose!!

Plus with the shortage of PS2's at the moment it is natural to get more new people signing up to eBay so they can obtain a PS2 off eBay as it seems to be the only place they can be bought at this present time.

  • I would expect as it gets closer to christmas they will sell quite a few at that price, and the fact that it is new customers purchasing them makes complete sense. It's obviously parents who have tried a few shops and panicked about disappointing their kids.

The thing to remember is that ebay is all about supply and demand.

While I was at school there was a cd shop down the road that has a whole section of cds that were always a fiver each. On ebay i noticed that these titles (mostly back-catalogue of pretty famous acts) regularly sold for more than this.

I listed all of them (200ish) as buy-it-now's of £10 inc. postage and sold several each day, purchasing the ones that i needed every afternoon and posting the next morning on the way to school. I also posted a '£1 off' voucher off with each cd, and had many direct re-orders.

Alot of the time people would also enquire about specific cds or new releases, which I would tell them I could get hold of for £X but that it would take 5-7 days. In that time I would get it off the cheapest of cd-wow, amazon etc and put it straight in the post to them when it arrived, along with a mark-up of 2 to 3 pounds.

Nice way to get 10x your weekly pocket money for less than an hours work a day :)

  • Argos, Hemel Hempstead told me they were expecting stock on Monday the 13th of December and said to ring and reserve early that morning in order to ensure that you get one.
