Hello,
I've salvaged a child's scooter out of the rubbish. The scooter is sound except for some rust spots. I was thinking of sanding down the rusty sections and repainting. Would this be OK or would I need to treat the rusty spots?

Sand down the rusty bits and use some primer before painting. Or you could hammerite the whole thing, they do a smooth one now. Chances are it won't come through before the child outgrows it or gets bored.0

Use hammerite / smoothrite to paint it and the rust won't come back through... if you use Hammerite it will be unique as well! Can always decorate with some stickers.0

Thanks lagi and dougk. I'll do that.0

If you hammerite it though, they won't be doing no high jumps as it will make it pretty heavy. They will have the biggest calfs on the street...0

hammerite takes a while to dry
id suggest plastikote brand...b&q , focus , etc all sell it in aerosols and it dries fast
stand the aerosol in some warm water and warm the scooter with a hair dryer if its a cool day
dont worry about primer , as said it will last long enough anyway0
