I was also worried about the same thing. I hope they don't exchange information. I have only reported claim and they haven't started any work yet so I don't think they will keep this on their system. Please someone confirm this.

When my dad bought house using west Bromwich building society they asked him to have building insurance, loan insurance and something else from them. I think it was compulsory, don't know about home insurance but definitely loan one was compulsory. anyway I did called them and they said Norwich union does cover Trace and Access but you are threw west Bromwich building society so policy is different and they will not pay for it. I asked them to send me term and condition. let see what happens. I am also going to print out link you have sent me and compare that with my policy.

Insurance companies will record all losses that are reported to them. Whether they are covered or declined claims or even cover queries about an incident that has happened. Most insurance companies also subscribe to a database called CUE on which all the above would be recorded and a simple name and postcode search would reveal all the losses reported to insurers...To clarify by loss I mean something that has happened that you have called about to query cover.
