Anyone know how much is Scottish Power's Fixed Price Energy online - 2011 - annual standing charge is for both gas and electricity? I’ve worked out how much I’d pay if I were to switch to Npower plus their service charges but it looks greater than Scottish Power's prices. I can’t compare like for like if I haven’t got Scottish Power's standing charge rates.

Thanks

Electricity is 13.87 and Gas is 14.68 apparently. If that’s the case then my present tariff works out cheaper than Npower’s. Funny how all the comparison sites show Npower’s Sign On-Line 14 Paperless Billing as about 40% cheaper.

Npower have a £55 standing charge for gas and the same for electricity so even though their prices overall are cheaper, once they add the standing charges on top it actually works out quite expensive.

    I've overlooked this:

Direct Debit discount of £21 per year for gas and £21 for electricity. Dual fuel discount of £63 per year. Total discount of £105 per year.

I think I'll have to do the maths again. Npower might be cheaper after all.

I'll have to get in touch with Scottish Power and ask what discounts they have. The only thing is I may not get a discount if I were to switch before 12 months have past as prices seem to be going up and down presently.
  • Depending on your consumption and location ebico might be worth a try:

Check the 'Gas' and 'Electricity' tabs at the top of the page. Consider how they compare with present annual consumption and possibly with energy efficiency measures. If you've not already seen them there are at least two threads on saving energy on the 'Old Style' and 'Green and Ethical' boards making largely 'behavioural' changes to energy consumption.
