Hello all..
After a bit of advice please.
Last year I U-switched my Gas and Elec supply from Npower to Eon
At the beginning of this month (11 months after the switch), Npower sent me a final bill.. (for £230)
I have been on the phone now many times to both Npower and Eon regarding the basis of thisn bill.
Feb 08 Npower customer reading of 8305
April08 Eon start my new account with 8303
Mar09 Npower claiming final estimated reading of 8403
As you can see, the numbers dont tally up. When I spoke to Eon, they said they have the email I sent them with my start readings for gas and electricity, (and I have since found the paperwork from the time I sent them the email, and I do indeed have 8303 written down)
Eon have also said that Npower have twice proposed a final reading of 8403, but have twice been refused as the account started with 8303 as far as they were concerned.. so Npower are trying to bill me for this regardless (how professional of them  )
I have since recieved the Final demand letter (including the bit about debt collection agency), but a further call to Npower resulted in my account being frozen for 28days while they look into it again.
I have said to them, that the feb reading must be wrong, wether it be there system or my mistake when typing it in (I have even suggested that 8305 might actually have been 8205.. this way, there estimated 98 units usage until april, would actually tally up with Eon starting figure of 8303) But getting anyone to listen is like trying to get blood from a stone.
They are looking into it again, but I just get the feeling all they will do is propose 8403 back to Eon, who will duly refuse on the same grounds they have done so twice before.
(I spoke to Eon again today 7 days into the 28 day review period, but Eon say no contact from Npower has yet been recieved)
I cant seem to make Npower understand that I have already paid for the gas they are billing me for (albeit, when i have used it... with Eon)
Anyone advise on a best course of action??
Thanks Rob

Hi Rob
In these cases there is a process to agree readings between the losing and gaining suppliers.
Sounds like npower have gone down this route twice already but we have rejected their claim both times. This will be because we already have an accurate reading whilst they are proposing an estimate.
You are right in assuming that if they go down a similar route again the likelihood is we will reject it again for the same reason.
If the situation was reversed I would recommend you call our complaints line and ask for your case to be escalated to a manager. I assume npower have similar procedures so would suggest you go down this road with them.
Hope this helps.

I shall speak to EON next friday (half way through the review period), to see if Npower have been in touch... and If not shall call them for an update.. at which point I may well then do that..
Thanks again.. Rob0 -

Hey morg... sounds like a similar thing to me... I plan to escalate mine to a complaint when I speak to NPower again, also, in some of the papers, there are financial people you can write to that may help you out.. ( like a column in the paper, not an advert for someone)... you could try contacting them..
