We're off to Poland (Krakow) in a few weeks and I'm unsure about currency. Some web sits say to take the zloty, others say to take US dollars. SO, what do we do?! Anyone got any tips?
Thanks

When we went last year we just took our credit & debit cards (Nationwide). We'd pre-booked/pre-paid our transfers from the airport so didn't need money till in the city. Withdrew local currency from hole in the wall with DC - a number dotted around Krakow centre - & paid in shops/restaurants with CC.
Friends we were with had brought some zloty with them, so that would be the alternative; can't think why $'s would be appropriate, but some places do take €'s.
Enjoy it, it's a great place, & the music (Klesmer?) in the Jewish district was wonderful!0 -
We too took our nationwide debit card. There is a hole in the wall at the airport if you need cash for the transfer to your hotel. Never had a problem with doing that.
Krakow is lovely though. We only had a couple of days there, but I would love to go back!0 -
Polish Zloty is available at most big banks (they may have to order it for you so give them a couple of days notice) and of course they love US dollars.0

Go to a bar and order a "wild dog", will put hairs on your chest.0

When i went o was advised to take dollars, very clean new looking ones too. I think there is a limit on the number of zloty you can bring out of the country. Try the dumplings and the cheese!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!

If you want to change sterling for zlotys, do it in Krakow at the kantors, these are money changing places that are dotted all over the city, you will get a better rate of exchange over there than you will at home, have a great time. its a fab city.0

I went to Krakow a couple of weeks ago. There were tons of exchange places and I got a better rate by changing my Pounds over when I got there (5.5 zloty to the Pound).0
