Zonerider Networks
I set it up a connection of mine a while ago, using a spare PC & 802.11g WAP I had. Had a few people sign in and use it - you get a cut of the fee they pay. The way its set-up, once someone sign's in they have access to the internet but still don't have access to my internal network as it runs through Windows ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) and therefore they are connecting on a different subnet, and is not routable to my network.0 -

I'm definately not happy with that! perhaps I will try WPA!? Your bluntness has spurred me to look into it, will need to read up on how to set it up mind you. I just can't sustain a connection using WEP, the Router works flawlessly with MAC filtering, it's a Linksys WAG54G about 2 years old.0 -
Check to see if there is a firmware update available on the website, it may help..
Routers shouldn't drop connections with encryption enabled, but I have seen reports of WEP being slower than WPA on some routers.
And WPA is much more secure provided that you use a long 63 byte key
e.g.

WEP is crackable by script kiddies as well, but it is far better than no encryption, which can be picked up with any wireless sniffer in range.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
