Hidden tariffs ?

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid noob question.

I used all the major switching sites to see which electricity tariff to switch to and they all gave the same answer except the SwitchwithWhich one (partner is a member so has a login) which gave another that was quite a bit cheaper.

How come the other switching sites didn't find the cheaper deal ?

I think you'll need to provide some more info.

What was the supplier & tariff that SwitchwithWhich offered that no other comparison site did?

What consumption figures did you use and what electricity region?

Npower Web 14 - all others said Online 14 or something.

Consumption £180 / qtr, I am in Scottish Hydro region.

That will be why try using actual kwh usage for the year.

Can you have a single fuel on Web 14?

    SwitchwithWhich thinks you can.

Of the comparison sites I looked at, they seem to think it is a dual fuel only tariff.

Interestingly, if you do a comparison on the nPower site itself, it only offers web 14 for dual fuel switches - although I can't see anywhere where it states it is dual fuel only

Well they let me order it and I've got the initial paperwork through from them. Maybe a 'computer says no' type letter is on it's way. There's no mains gas here BTW so maybe there's special dispensation for households who can't take dual fuel from them ?

It depends how you view tying yourself into an energy company but I hope you are aware that to get the price shown on the switching site you need to be on that tariff for 12 months at least. The annual discount (anything up to £127) is paid annually *in arrears*. If you knew this already, apologies for trying to teach granny to suck eggs and all that...
