Some thoughts back to your orignal question: have you moved house recently? Do you have a house name rather than a number, and by any chance has your postcode altered?
Most card issuers are looking for stability and if there are recent changes in employment, location etc., you may not be regarded as a good risk right now. As previous comments have suggested, I'd recommend an Experian report just to ensure that say an old mobile bill or similar has not gone astray.
Above all, don't take it personally!

Same job, same address, same postcode and no house name. Been that way for about 16 years now. Mobile bill paid by direct debit, as are most of the household bills, but might be worth checking, as you say, to ensure there hasn't been a bit of 'identity theft' going on.........0 -
