Have to say I'm not all that impressed with it. It's quite slow at loading pages and going back or forward. It's not good at scrolling down pages either at the moment. Hopefully it's just teething problems.

It's a load of rubbish half the sites i surf that use javascript don't even work , i searched to see if there were some settings to amend but no luck - back to firefox and ie6 for me

Then use the compatibility view. IE6 is an extremely vulnerable browser and your seriously risking your computer with threats if you don't at least upgrade to version 7.

In Microsoft's own tests, IE8 appeared to be faster than the latest versions of Firefox and Chrome. I haven't used IE8 very much, just had a quick look at it and it takes too long for a new tab to open for my liking! It's not instant like Firefox. Also I had to reinstall a bunch of plugins when I switched to Firefox (Flash etc) and I really don't want to have to do that again to go back to IE.

Its the Public "Full Version" Release now not beta.

One thing i have noticed is its compatibility with some websites.

The main one i noticed was it doesnt like confused.com (there was a tiny chance confused.com was just experiencing problems when i tried it but i doubt that). Not sure if people like confused.com will be updating there websites to be compatible and if they do will it affect those who choose to stick with IE7.

Im gonna stick with IE8 on just one laptop at the moment so that i can check my websites for compatibility issues but i dont think the overall compatibility issues will be fixed for a few weeks or months. (Just like the hardware issues when Vista was released it will take time but itll smooth out over time).

I might get slated for this due to the high numbers of microsoft haters and firefox/opera/chrome/etc lovers these days...

    There are chrome lovers?

My default browser is Firefox but I do have Explorer 7 installed and use it without any problems. I have (today) installed Explorer 8. When I ran it my system completely locked, when I uninstalled it everything went back to normal. So thanks but no thanks.
