dont forget the cake and invites! its up to you if you can do your own or but them.
photos: remember the album reallly does get put in the cupboard and seldom used to bore visitors so i wouldnt spend too much on it what i did was buy tha cheapest package i could find for in the cupboard so that i had the memories done by a professional but left myself with enough money left to have a lovely enlargement in lovely frame on my wall which i look at everyday and everyone can see it without getting the boring album out!!! think of a photo youd like to see everyday and get the photographer to take it (eg mine was hubby picking me up whilst some guests stood above us on a balcony chucking confetti all over us!! its action packed, a bit different to just standing there and was fun!! also with little ones bubbles make really cute photos!)
cars: i love daimlers for weddings! i had a lovely white one i love the rounded shape of them and there was lots of space inside it for my dress!
cake: i bought three fruit tiers from local cakeshop and my sister went to nightschool cake decorating and saved us loads of money by doing marzipan and icing (lots of hand made sugar flowers)
most of all have a great day it really is brilliant getting married! good luck!

  • I'm planning to spend less than £1000 on our wedding!

I'm making my own and the bridesmaid dresses, and OH's coat

Making my own invites to both the wedding and reception

Minimal flowers, but definately arranging my own :)

We know a photographer - result!

Hiring a venue for a reception and doing all my own cooking for the buffet

not sure about transport yet, but nothing too fancy :)

It can be done nicely without breaking the bank!!
  • There is an enormous thread on this (which is well worth reading!) here if you haven't already found it! :D
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • Same here linzibean, we have planned our wedding for under £1000, as for flowers, we have ordered a small posy for myself and enough button holes for immediate family members with a few special ones for groom, best man, my brother-who's giving me away,OH mum and dad,and our son- ringbearer, this has worked out cheaper than we originally bugeted for, the whole thing has really as i kept finding things at a cheaper price than i originally saw them.
Maybe a family member could get the wedding cake for you instead of a gift?
