My Printer Died, I Need A New One But Need Help

I need to get a new printer fast (today) but need help with the techie stuff.
It's for my home/business so needs to be a copy, scan, fax machine with network capability.
My old machine was inkjet but I have heard that laser is better, Printing photos is not essential but would be nice.
I plan to go to my nearest PC World today but would prefer to be armed with some sort of list of requirements or the salesmen will eat me alive.
Budget is upto £300
I know it's short notice but if anyone can offer some tips or suggestions that would be great,
