NO ONE SHOULD BOTHER WITH THIS DODGY SOFTWARE!!!!
wait for a proper release
Man, check your facts before you start calling people morons and scaremongering, you really think microsoft would allow 25 million people to download dodgy software and update it via windows updates?! lol
What spurs1234 posted was a direct download link to this:

I would recommend it to anyone, and have installed it on many machines, it's a great piece of software that millions of people use without any problems.
Microsofts anti-spyware is widely considered to be one of the best spyware protection apps, and has been for quite a long time now (well over a year). Many ISP's recommend it to their customers.
The only reason it is still a beta is that Microsoft bought the software from a respected anti-spyware company called Giant and hasn't entirely finished modifying it, same as Gmail having a beta tag, it runs fine, but there will probably be final adjustments related to user comments before they remove the beta tag.0 -

They're the same app, different cosmetically and rebranded, Windows Defender is Beta 2, Microsoft Anti-spyware was Beta 1 - so if anything, any bugs that were in Beta 1 should have been removed.
I use Defender on 4 machines and think it's a lot faster than beta 1, it now scans inside zip and rar files, has an improved interface, it has less notification area pop-ups and the icon only shows when the engine is active.
What are the bugs you've noticed? I'll keep an eye out for them.
People who are using beta 1 can still do so until July, there's no rush to upgrade to beta 2.
Windows Defender will come 'built-in' when Windows Vista is released at the end of the year/beginning of next year (the first fully featured Vista beta was released a few days back).0 -
Think I will stick with Spybot S&D , Free from https://www.download.com0

If it did fall off the back of a torrent or you've lost your proper key:
How To Update Xp
This is so simple guys!!
Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs -> click Manage Add-ons
Find the "Windows Genuine Advantage" add-on in the menu and then click Disable in the Settings box at the botton
Now go back to the Windows Update page and download as normal
This is for people with copys of XP
Windows update now checks you licence (for authenticity) before allowing you to update. This stops them abnd you get the up dates0 -
sadly that doesn't work anymoreThat's why the OP posted the direct link to the download and not a link that needs validating isn't it?
Alas, when you try and install it checks for the genuine check patch/registry entry (etc) that says its real or fake0 -
This should work for non legit copies of XP.
"Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update. This effort to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called 'Genuine Advantage.' It was cracked within 24 hours."
Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')
It turns off the trigger for the key check.
Certainly let my mate install all of the upgrades to Xp that are needed when he installed XP."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
