Hi Guys this has been posted on the Techie board before but not sure about here, this is a must have as Spyware is fast becoming more wide spread than viruses, Also there are spyware that can do just as much harm as a virus does.
So any one that has got Windows XP and hasnt already got Anti-Spyware sotware download and install this , do a full system scan and remove anything it brings up, this will help speed up and clean up your computer.
Windows Defender {Direct Download}

Windows Defender {Direct Download}
If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway

it will work fine its just the downloading that might cause a problem , which you could download from another machine and put the installer on disk ...If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anywaySarcasm helps keep you from telling people what you really think of them

getting pedantic aren't we ;p,
to clarify - if your version of windows fell off the back of a torrent etc, then you probably wont pass MS geniune validation and will be unable to download defender.
Btw spurs, I downloaded it from somewhere else and tried to install it on my pc and wouldn't have any of it0 -
it's also meant to be a bit "buggy" at the moment, so users have problems with the install others with updates
if you already have the Microsoft anti spyware product this is just a new name for the same product, I would recommend sticking with that for now
the fear is also that they will start charging for this in the long term (as in their new Windows onecare product)Ex forum ambassador

I would go for http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
more of a must have
Along with http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Whole heartidly agree with Intel - although I'd back this up with a copy of Ad-Aware (free) or Xoftspy (paid for) to pick up anything Spybot may miss (rare).Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0

Note that Defender is still a Beta release - only install it if you understand and accept the risks associated with Beta software
If you don't understand or accept the risks, keep with the fully tested software for now as suggested by intel above."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

My adaware says it hasnt been updated for ages yet every time I run it, I click "check for updates". Is there anything else I should be doing?My views are irrelevant - censorship is alive & well!0 -

That's why the OP posted the direct link to the download and not a link that needs validating isn't it?
Been using it myself for a week or two now - no problems.0
