Wonga Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi there all need some advice,
I recently used wonga to help me out of a sticky spot stupid i know!
Anyway due to an error my wages didnt go into my bank account (unknown to me)until 2 days after my payment to wonga was due, as soon as i became aware of the situation i got intouch with wonga customer services, i explained my situation to wonga who seemed understanding! and said although a £55 fee had been added know other charges would be added as long as payment was made in full on the 20/03/08 i infact made the payment 19/03/08 u can imagine to my horror on checking my bank account today wonga had tried nine time to take the amount from my bank each time occuring a £10 charge for a failed attempt!so in total i have paid £145 in charges £50 of which have been taken after my full outstanding balance was made, i have tried to contact wonga three times today regarding this matter only to be told they had computer problems and couldnt get into my account, where do i stand on this matter i have emailed wonga and as yet had no reply, why try 5 times in one day, im a single parent who accounts for every penny so due to this a bill will have to go amiss next month, but wonga just keep fobbing me off.:eek:

Bank charges are recoverable as I'm sure you know but as for Wonga I have never heard of them but seeing as it was a computer error on their part they should refund the charges you will pay. I would get some help here form CAB or www.nationaldebtline.co.uk or www.cccs.co.uk if you phone either of these company's they will be able to advise you as to how to procceed and help you with any letters as will CAB. I wouldn't let this drop i would keep hounding them. Out of interest which bank are you with? I know that some banks such as CO-OP bank will automatically cancel a set up DD if it bounces to prevent an occurance. Also talk to your bank and explain your situation but don't say it was this company's fault or they will tell you to complain to them. Good luck and don't give up and keep a full record of phone calls dates and times and take names also, or better still in writing only.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

E5043169 - I've had a missed payment before with Wonga and got it sorted by simply talking it through with them. The most important part is getting in touch and not waiting for them to contact you. ..an ounce of prevention...0
-
how does E5043169 know that you are from Wonga ?
I sure as ---- wouldn't trust someone who says "phone me as i'm from the company you've got problems with" on a public forum0 -
According to Companies House (Public info available to anyone for no fee) Wonga are...
Name & Registered Office:
WONGA.COM LIMITED
88 CRAWFORD STREET
LONDON
W1H 2EJ
Company No. 06374235Status: Active
Date of Incorporation: 18/09/2007
Country of Origin: United Kingdom
Company Type: Private Limited Company
Nature of Business (SIC(03)):
6512 - Other monetary intermediation
Accounting Reference Date: 31/12

Last Return Made Up To: 18/09/2008
Next Return Due: 16/10/2009
So, 18 months old, never filed any accounts...
Hmmmnnnn.. wonder why they don't want to file their accounts? IMHO if I were WongaWoman I'd be nervous about continuing to be paid..
The address is, according to Royal Mail for two people/companies...
* Cameron Baum,88-90,Crawford Street,London, W1H 2EJ
* The Toby Press Ltd,88-90,Crawford Street,London, W1H 2EJ
Cameron Baum are a firm of accountants. According to them Wonga are a "Client but not based here". On my enquiring politely where Wonga were based the young lady declined to advise me, but gave me the expensive 087.. number..
There appear to be a lot of other companies registered at this address...
Sounds a bit flaky to me, although I'm sure Wonga would be happy to provide a fuller explanaition & put all our minds at rest.
Could we start, please, with where the offices actually are (the offices where the 'phone call ends up) and a copy of the current accounts? I'm sure they have nothing to hide...
Cheers!

I contacted wonga immediatley, my repayment was only two days late so i find these charges very extreme, when i was told i would incure charges of £55,i will try to contact wonga again regarding this, i contacted my bank lloydstsb, but was told as these were bank card transactions they couldnt be stopped even though when they started i had no money in my account and they made me overdrawn (no over draft) so will now occur more charges!0
-
Managed to speak to wonga today who justified there charges saying there was nothing i could do about it, the charges were computer generated and couldnt be stopped till loan was repaid in full, the agreement i had made with them previously didnt make any difference, my argument was if i had no money in my account am there would be none avaliable 1,2,3,4,5, hours later and how could they justify making 5 failed attempts in one day costing me another £50 i explained how these charges had made me over drawn and how the excessive late payments fees had totally mucked up my credit payments for the month his only reply was take out another loan then to cover my short fall i dont think so,surley £145 pound in charges cant be justified for a 2 day late loan, should i push this and take furthur advice?0

the charges will increase as they will still continue to try and take payment. the only way is to pay, borrow off family if u have too!0 -
