I had a debt with a Lloyds credit card which was passed to connaught collections, I was paying £100 a month since Oct 2006 but I recently missed one month's payment, I was also in the process of writing to them requesting them to accept a lower payment as next month my working hours will be reduced therefore so will my salary, but before I sent the letter, I received a letter from them which was quite polite stating due to the economic climate if I completed the expenditure form which they enclosed and an offer of payment, they would consider it.
I completed the expenditure form and an offer of payment of £30. They tried to call me on my old mobile (they don't have my home phone number or my new mobile number) left a very abrupt message telling me to call back, which I didn't, they then sent me a letter requesting me to confirm my 'alleged' income which I stated on the form by way of a recent payslip and a letter from the relevant benefits agency confirming my tax credits.
So do I send the payslip, I can't send anything confirming the tax credits because I haven't got anything, also as I haven't paid anything now for 2 months I thought I should pay the £30 which I have offered as I don't want them to assume I am refusing to pay.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
thanks

Hi
Just about every DCA in the planet is panicking at the moment. if you stop paying, they lose their jobs as well.
Have you requested the Consumer Credit Agreement for this account? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks never thought of that!!
No, I haven't requested a CCA for the account.
I'm not sure if I should send them the information they are asking for?0 -
I suggest you start with the CCA letter.
They are NOT entitled to copies of salary slips.
It would be sensible to send an Income and expenditure listing though. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks Ras, I will ask for a CCA
I have done a income and expenditure list which they have received, their response was that before they considered my offer of payment they want confirmation of my 'alleged' income and they have asked for a recent payslip.
Thanks again0 -

You're under NO legal obligation to provide those deatils to anyone, other than a court.mumtoangel wrote: »they want confirmation of my 'alleged' income and they have asked for a recent payslipClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Connaught are part of 1st credit and have in recent years been very quick to issue statutory demands (threatening bankruptcy), regardless of whether they intended to actually petition for bankruptcy.
Now you may be aware that 1st credit have had their wrists slapped by the OFT for this - they've been told only to do this if there is a definite intention to continue with this process.
Sounds to me like they're fishing to try to find out enough about your situation to work out how they can best threaten you.
I pretty much agree with RAS, but if I were to send them expenditure details I would refer to 'housing costs' or rent/mortgage' and not 'mortgage' or 'secured loan'.
Actually, I would just CCA them and if they can't provide it, then tell them where to go0 -
Just a thought. Maybe they also want to use details from the payslip to get your work phone number and call you there.0

is that because they're all a part of the same house of cards as well? Would have thought the DCAs would be very busy...not pancickingFor what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Thanks everyone for your comments, I got a bit worried reading fatbelly's comments, I don't want to be threatened with bankruptcy. I have been paying them £100 a month for the last 2 years, iy's not like I'm refusing to pay. The expenditure form they sent me had seperate boxes for rent or mortgage, I filled in the box for rent.
Thanks0
