There are special processes in place for overseas services personnel.
Wrong again it is only fraud if you knowingly decieve the bank if they are made aware that (ie.your parents address)is your postal address and you collect mail from there or it is fowarded for you. There is no fraud.
It is the same a using your parents as a proxy to vote on your behalf while you are serving away.
There are no special processes in place for serving personel.
They are constantly treated as third class citizens by the banks.0 -

This is absolute rubbish.
When an application asks for an address it is the address you are living at that they want not some address where you pick up mail.
I can assure you that by quoting a BFPO address on any application whether it is a new account application credit card or loan it is dealt with seperatelyto mainstream applications. (well the bank I work for for over 20 years does so anyway)0 -
I have to agree with Bokken on this one! Having served the Queen for the last 23 years I can safely say the best way to use the British banking system is by having a "permanent UK address". My bank knows I am in Germany and so does my credit card, but they both use my parents address for mail.
The British Forces have been penalised for years over having BFPO addresses, just check out the Army Families Federation website if you don't believe us (https://www.army.mod.uk/aff/):jI am an Employment Law Paralegal and an experienced Human Resources Manager and offer my guidance as simply that ... guidance :j0 -
Ok, I've attempted to get a life of balance transfer credit card but was turned down - again they say not because of anything in my credit history with Experian or anything. So I called MBNA, my current credit card provider and spoke to them about getting a loan to pay off the card - something they say happens frequently. However, they turned me down, saying they wanted to see more stability in my permanent job as I've only been with current employer 6 months and prior to that I was temping and contracting. MBNA did agree to knock 3% off my c/card interest rate bringing it down to 16.9%. But as I owe 14,000 on it, it is a small help.
Surely, if my circumstances are leading them to think I will default on a loan, those same circumstances would be leading me to default on my c/card? Yet I'm not defaulting and therefore I should be demonstrating to them they would not be at risk by giving me a manageable interest rate on a loan.????
With 4 credit checks in the past two weeks, I must now be at my limit .... is there really no other option but to continue paying 16.9% until MBNA say they are satisfied enough to offer me a personal loan??0 -
4 credit checks in 3 weeks was enough to screw me up for the last 6 months, so I think you are going to be in a bit of trouble too.0

Is six months the recommended wait time before trying again? or is it longer? i0

If you have managed to pile up a debt of £14k then this is the main reason why they don't want to commit to any new borrowing. You are one of their most profitable customers! and the only way to stop this is either for you to repay or get some other company to take over the debt.
As you have already had numerous credit searches and declines in the last few weeks I would not contemplate any more for a few months just concentrate on paying as much as possible off.0
