it came up saying token accepted then the led flashed red but no money went on it:confused:

anyone else help with this

another problem i have is i aint used the gas for months, aint put any credit on the gas so what will happen next time i credit the gas will it all be swallowed up by a standing charge? is there a standing charge

Chances are that when you add credit to your gas meter it will deduct a chunk of standing charges if your tarriff allows this. Why havent you used gas in the winter period?

to be honest got finished from work and couldnt really afford to use the gas as it costs a fortune so i just had to use a oil heater when i got really cold, not the best but as i live alone no one else was suffering

    thanks for your quick reply

British Gas Keys are orange & blue, SSE have green ones....if you've put money on a SSE key and your meter is set up with a BG tariff you would have got an error.

Did you put enough money in the meter? If the meter has used all it's emergency credit (say £20) and you put less than that in it would take the money but remain off untill more is put in.

its on emergancy at the moment but has got 2 pound odd left on emergancy (limit of 5 quid) so i put 5 pound on the card so that would take me over 2 pound in credit. the woman said she could tell me if there is credit on the key (when i went back to the shop) and there was

sorted, had to buy a new stick for 8 quid but they credited the stick with an extra tenner, because thats what was on the stick, now i have put the stick in the meter it has 18 pound on it, it has not deducted the emergency credit
