Hotels.com - Best Price Guarantee?

The website I booked a hotel room on states that it will refund the difference if I find the same hotel booking cheaper elsewhere. Now I've found somewhere cheaper, the company is claiming that it doesn't do price matching!
I booked through Avis (http://www.avis.co.uk/Book-a-Hotel) who's partnered with Hotels.com to provide hotel bookings. I've rung the number on my booking confirmation and taken the call centre rep through the steps to see the page on the website that has the price guarantee terms on it. They still claim that there is no price guarantee.
Is a company allowed to do this? It's only worth £10 to me so I'm not going to waste too much time pursuing it, I was just a bit shocked that a company would keep denying something when it's so clearly highlighted on their website.

Did you find it within 24 hours as per the T&Cs?0

The site says you are supposed to fill in this form not ring them?

But you are supposed to submit it within 24 hours of making the booking!0 -
I filled in the form and rang them as well. I got an email response from Expedia (the parent company) saying that Expedia does not price match. Not very helpful! I responded saying that I didn't book through Expedia and got a reply which told me to ring this number: 02071366278. After much pushing the person I spoke to agreed to refund the £10 :T even though by this point it was 26 hours since I'd booked it. Probably too much effort for £10 but a very satisfactory result.
So if anyone here is trying to claim money back through the Best Price Guarantee, fill in the form on the Avis website (because it's in the T&Cs) but also ring the number above. Don't bother with any numbers on the website or confirmation email.0 -

Never believe anything like that. They can easily get out of it by saying "well our product you can cancel with x days" or "ours has free dongles" or something.0
