direct debit invasion?

HI ALL
I have an offset mortgage with NatWest
also personal loan with Natwest
I am changing the direct debit for the mortgage to my new Barclays account.
The instruction for the direct debit is to pay Natwest Home Loans Ltd.
Am I correct in thinking that they cannot "invade" the account through this to take any money owing on the personal loan account????
Hope I explained the question properly.Any advice helpful. Thanks

As long as you have separate D/D 's for your mortgage and loan then there should be no worries.
If you are referring to a right of set off this can only be done where you hold an account and loans at the same bank.
One thing I would check though in the T&C of the loan (not so much the mortgage) is whether Nat West will let you have a D/D to repay from another bank. Some will some won't allow it.0 -
Yeah i know tried to cancel direct debit for loan which my unemployment insurance is paying for and they wouldnt let me cancel or switch.Ho
pefully I will get a new job by the time the insurance stops paying (12 months) but if not i wont be able to pay them and i wondered if by paying the mortgage d/d from barclays would allow them to also use that d/d to take money from my barclays account being as mort and loan both from natwest.
from your answer i guess not. thanks0
