Large sum, short term, easy access?

Hi, Can any one help?
My mother (over 60) has just sold her house for cash. The house she was buying has fallen through. It is possible she may be looking for some months before she finds a new home.

What is the best thing to do with £140,000 whilst she is looking? Bearing in mind that she may need access to it reasonably quickly to buy the new property. Where could she get the best return?

Alliance & Leicester - Online Saver Issue 2 pays 5.15% (includes 0.9% bonus to March 2007) but only up to £25K
Abbey e-saver would pay 5% (includes a 0.5% 6 month bonus) on the rest as long as it stays above £100K.

You can use your e-mail account to set these up but your mum will require a linked current account.
