So, which card next?

Options
I have a sainsbury's platinum card that I've used to spend on over the last (nearly) 12 months at 0% but this runs out in April so I need to start thinking about where to go next.

I have a Lloyds TSB mailshot for 9 months @ 0% but I think there's an uncapped 2% fee on that. Not sure if there any better deals around?

Already have Barclaycard (been a customer for many a year but don't spend on the card - just keep it for the credit score weighting) and an Egg card which I intend to use my anniversary offer on but that isn't until September.

Any recommendations?

  • Keeping Barclaycard for "credit score" is not good! You're effectively reducing the amount of credit limit you'll get elsewhere, so use it, or close it, or call to close it and see what offer they make you to retain your custom.

Call Sainsbury's and say that you are due to close the account in April and ask if they can extend the 0% offer .See how you get on.
MNBA/A&L/Virgin all offer 10k plus so they may suit you.
In my opinion I would close Barclaycard and aim to come back to them in 12mths and pick up the "New" customer offers available then.If you aim to do this with several cards staggered over the year you will have several cards open at once that provide a service that is tailored to what you need instead of just using one card as a emergency /fall back card.
