  • Too much again today :o

    Went to visit my best friend in her new house in Bexleyheath today so went to Sainsbury's and got her a plant and chocolates. Also got 2 easter eggs for her kids. Got myself some teabags and some pull ups for my DD. Spent £24. Then went to petrol station and spent £10. Spent £4.96 in bakery on savouries for breakfast on the go (5 of us). OH spent another £3 as well (on some porridge I think :confused: ).

    Anyway, got a chq in the post for some shares for £6.09 :rotfl: gosh, what shall I do with all that money? LOL! I've got something on ebay that will hopefully sell as well!

    Today, me and OH went with some freinds round the charity shops looking for little treats.

    I spent a tenner all in on items of which 2 of them are going on ebay ( how mse am I?!) and should make a pretty penny.

    Then bought lunch and a couple of pints for me and OH to the tune of 9.40

    Not too bad at all today. Was going to have a takeaway, but decided a) could be foul so whats the point b) we have to go out for a dinner next week for a mates b/day so rather save the money for that!
    :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
    Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
    So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:

    £42 on next weeks groceries!!

    Admittedly we didn't have a weekly shop last week so we're replacing things from that but still £42!!

    So much for my £30 weekly food budget :(

    Kat

    If it makes you feel any better Kat, I spent £35 on groceries today and it only covers me till Tuesday-ish!

    The reasons it was so high was I promised OH fillet steak (start of month, plus no valentine's meal out this year) and the only one good for two was £7.51 :eek: I am now repeating over and over to myself that this is still a good deal compared to going out for steak... I also stocked up on drinks as the cupboard is pretty bare.

    I also spent nearly £30 on petrol, almost a full tank.

    Usual Saturday splurge...

    Petrol £15 Bit extra this week as I have an extra drive tomorrow
    Paper, crisps (packed lunches)and choc bar for DS1 £4.01
    Parking £1
    Boots £11.31 top up for DS2, bits for DS1 and DS2
    Magazine £3.20
    Diary 75p for DS1, he wants to keep a spending diary too, as he has just realised he spent £30 over halfterm, and doesn't have anything to show for it.
    £2 coin in savings (I am including this in spending, because it comes out of my weekly cash)

    Total £37-27. Mmmmm....

    I spent an hour this morning re adding up the last 4 weeks, but changing the Monday-Sunday diary entries to Saturday-Friday, which is how I get the money. The totals don't actually look any better, but it seems more logical to me. :rolleyes:

    Ds1 worked out that if I spend as much for the rest of the year, I shall spend £2,000 more than my income. :eek: How very encouraging.

    As a one off, that's not too bad - think of it as £3.75 each and it doesn't sound so extravagant! You'd have struggled to get him a card and some nice chocolates for that :)

    You'll just have to join me in serving gruel for every meal next week!

    Oh no! I forgot about the petrol and parking! :mad:

    That brings the total to £69.00... :cry:

    Hi looking ahead. Have you thought about looking into a home hairdresser? They often have the same qualifications/experience but cost less - I guess because there is no salon rent/utilities etc.

    I hadn't thought of that - no. Thanks!
    However good news....the cut & colour came to £48 this time not £60 as I didn't go for "foils"...so a bit of a saving at least. Plus my hairdresser is going self employed and will work from home soon which will be cheaper :T

    So...better than expected!

    Hooray....I've sold three things on EBAY totalling £25...a useful amount indeed.

    Had to go grocery shopping as well this evening - £43.03 for me & OH to cover most of next week (still have to get a few fresh veggies at end of week, that'll be <£5 though I hope) and that included some toiletries i.e. hand soap, loo roll, washing up liquid & painkillers. We budget £50 a week so, not too bad.

    We made our own lentil, carrot, garlic & rosemary soup tonight...it was *really* cheap and there was tonnes of it too. :dance:

    I nearly had another £2 for my savings but....I included it when I gave a tip at the hairdressers....I'm usually reticent to tip given my situation but she did a wicked job straightening my usual curly mop..!

  • Another spend free day here - plus I sold some bits on eBay, which made me around £50, and a cheque for £70 arrived this morning too :j

    Only downside to all these spend free days is no £2 coins for my pot :rotfl:
    Highest Debt (Sept 04) -> £41,300 :(

    OH is off chocolate as he can't believe the Christmas excess is still hanging around... I have put a tin more or less out of sight on top of the cupboards so only his choc orange segments (that I don't like) are around to mock him! He did actually get a Drew Barrymore dvd for valentines that I bought with a Virgin voucher I had from returning a duplicate Christmas present.

    Hmm - I think actually I should get both steaks now in all fairness... ;)

    I've just seen some great old-style recipes on another thread and am quite enthused to try a stockpot type meal or two. I may even have braising steak in the freezer which would be good - the worst bit of living out of the freezer is when you end up eating lots of chips and other potato comestibles instead of only allowing them into the diet fortnightly.

    A question for everyone here as we are regulating our cashflow and I'm curious if it makes a difference, do you fill up with petrol when you go to the petrol station or do you put in a set amount at set intervals?

  • Hi everyone,

    I have spent:-

    £6.27 posting eBay parcels

    £61 on 2 week food shop for me and OH - have been living on pasta and flora for the last couple of weeks so quite a lot of big stuff needed replacing. Also got some Asda smartprice tupperware boxes to freeze some of my batch cooking in that I'm doing this weekend.

    £26 on petrol. I'm going to DESPERATELY try to make this last me the month. I drive 12/13 miles every work day and get about 10 miles to £1 so this should work out just right. Hopefully I won't need any extra journeys.

    Expensive day - very strange day - finally came clean to OH about everything and he was the best - he admitted some stuff too - but that's for another thread.

    scottishspendaholic x
    MBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
    Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
    Bank of Scotland = £2,782.83
