well 10 days left and only £23 though fridge and freezer are full ( have to start using stuff from the freezer as shopping would have been less if I'd have considered the freezer full of meat). Also traet the family to chips and fish from chippie tonight but worth it as gave me the night off :jGC: £400/ £00

Have finished my challenge for this 'month'.
Normally start it when DH gets paid but this time round have started it when the child benefit has come in. So have been spending that and the lodgers money on shopping and petrol.
Budget is £280 for 4 weeks, so £70 per week. Have spent £258.57. So £21.43 under budget. No money left in the account though so not sure where it went
Was going to ask, what do others do who have their months not in the calender month?
Do you work it out per week and then do the calender month or just start earlier than everyone else?0 -
I have saved £50 today on my grocery bill! My bill is normally in the region of £80(considering that there is only my fella and me,nokids or pets to buy for, that is rather jaw-dropping!),but changing my strategy onwhat I am buying, thinking about what I really need and what I don't need(Ican bake my own cakes and quiches, etc),I have got my bill down to £33.09!0

I am going to start the grocery challenge from payday which is Friday!!
I followed the advice and kept all my receipts for anything I bought foodwise, cleaningwise etc etc for the last month. And to my horror, I had spent £156.11!!!!! I thought I was spending in the region of £80 a month!!!!!!!
Glad I kept my receipts, opened my eyes!!!
So fingers crossed, I'm going to go for £100 this month and see how I do.Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Good Luck **Purpleprincess** I've got money left over this month to go into our holiday fund so I'm really pleased. This month I'm avoiding supermarkets, I know shopping locally for meat, fruit and veg is cheaper than the supermarket, but sugar, flour etc is more expensive. I'm looking forward to the challenge, and hopefully will be adding to the holiday fund in April. My month runs 23rd March - 23rd April.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

I'm starting to make the shopping list for our planned big shops - Costco/Tesco on Saturday and SUMA next week. But they are for next month, I'd planned on doing the challenge from Payday to Payday so this challenge ends on Friday for me...
So far we've spent £365.28 well under our £500 goal, there will be another £15 tomorrow on the Abel and Cole organic fruit/veg box but that should be it. Looks like we'll come in over £100 UNDER! :T :T
Amazing how much you can save if you are concentrating on it rather than letting "a little bit here and there" add up.
Thanks for the challenge I'm looking forward to the next one... just have to work out how I want to split the bimonthly SUMA shop...0 -
Well i went over for March, but April does start for me today.
I did a big tesco shop last week, and it seemed silly just to do a weeks shop, now i have no codes to play with.
The frezzer and cupboards are still pretty full, so hope to claw it back this month.
Told the children is o/s or nothing- i will not be buying anymore chicken nuggets and I will only be making 1 meal for all of us from now on.
Last night was the first night and I must admit it went better than i thought it would.April Grocery challange £175
Spent week 1 £29.90
week 2 £62.64, TOTAL £92.540 -
I'm so pleased with how well I'm doing! I have one more shop this month on Monday, but have spent less than half my target so will be well under! Not sure I can do it every month as was using stuff from teh freezer, but will be interesting to give it a go in April. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
