Hi Just had a call from Scottish Gas asking me to come back to them.
So I asked what the tariff was for Web Saver Dual Fuel

Scottish Gas
Gas
Tier 1 Tier 2
6.476p per kWh 3.022p per kWh
(inc.VAT)
Electricity
Tier 1 Tier 2
23.608p per kWh 11.279p per kWh
(inc.VAT)

What I am paying to Eon before any discount

Gas
Tier 1 Tier 2
4.8898p per kWh 3.1160p per kWh
(inc.VAT)
Electricity
Tier 1 Tier 2
18.71p per kWh 11.23p per kWh
(inc.VAT)
She didn't seem surprised when I said no thanks.

Watch out for British Gas. I moved into a flat, renting off a work mate, and they've never changed their supplier, ie Scottish Gas. I've had so many problems with them, for a start they spelt my surname wrong - I mean come on, that's not funny when they have to close and set up a new account just for that purpose. Also the fact that they can hardly establish which electricity supply is which. The problem is that there are four flats to the same number, and they haven't bothered to come around to ensure they have got the right supply! Thanks for that.

In particular, eyes down and look out for your internet account. I personally don't pay bills over the internet, but when they can't decide who was living in the flat during certain months of the year - ie I got charged for a month when I actually hadn't moved into the flat. Cheers then. When I rung up to sort the problem - my landlord had already told them five times to right the problem, they sent me a FINAL NOTICE letter through so I could 'cough up.' I didn't pay it, and checked my balance on the internet. It said the same so I called Customer Services who ensured me that the problem would be rectified now that I'd called them. They would 'update' it for me.

A month later and the still hadn't done it, I was concerned about my credit rating, as British Gas have portrayed me as 'an unworthy credit rater.' I had a good forty minute conversation with them a few days ago to rectify this. It will take up to 21 days and since then I've had a letter from another company advising me to arrange a debt collector around and 'demand the debt withing seven days.' Another phone call yet again. Can you imagine how much this cost on a mobile?

Eventually it will get sorted out, and I'll be taking my business elsewhere, to EBICo who will drop their prices at the end of the month to half the price of British Gas.

How many Tier1 kWhs do EON charge for? With BG it is 125 a quarter for electricity, and 670 for gas.

What are the discounts - dual fuel and payment by DD?

Perhaps you should compare prices on the comparison networks, using your area and level of consumption.

For many people BG web saver 2 is the cheapest.

It might not be for you, but it will be marginal if it is not cheaper.

    Welcome to the forum.

Presumably you have some inside information?

    Half BG prices eh!

That will interest lots of people.

You are absolutely sure of your facts?

So not 50% of British Gas prices then? Even if you use less than 670 kWh/quarter.
Still cheaper for the low user if paying PP or after prompt discount. (no head to do the maths today)
