Christmas with Santa in Lapland - Anybody been??

I don't know if there is an old thread about this. If there is I would be interested to read it if anyone can point me in the right direction.
My OH and I are thinking about taking our 3 kids to Lapland this Christmas before my son gets too old (he is 8 in August.) I don't know anyone that has been and wondered if any of you had and could tell me about your good/bad experiences, the best places to go and the best/cheapest places to buy from.
I know it is early to talk about Christmas again, but obviously these holidays don't come cheap and maybe if we book early, we may get a free child place.
We don't want to go on a day trip. We are thinking about two or three nights.
Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't want to pay the over the odds rates for the package tours you can do it yourself quite cheaply. Ryanair fly to Tampere from where you can get the train to a place called Rovaniemi which is just outside the Arctic circle and Santaland. You can get the shuttle bus to santaland which is just inside the arctic circle.
