There is a post about it on the Techie forum but it's easy to miss (I don't really check the Techie forum too often...)
Google street view is a collection of panoramic photos of streets. It basically gives you a view as if you were walking down a given street, looking around. It's been available for a while but not for the UK. Now they released it for a number of UK cities:
Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Nottingham, Oxford, S!!!!horpe, Sheffield, Southampton, Swansea and York.
(as mentioned here:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/scienceandtechnology/technology/google/5015670/How-to-use-Google-Street-View.html )
Just go to: http://maps.google.co.uk/, type in the place name or postcode (as long as it's in one of the supported cities) and drag the Yellow Man (located on the left, above the zoom in-out bar) to the street you want to view. I find it fantastic and fairly addictive!
Hope someone finds it useful. There is a post about it on the Techie forum but it's easy to miss (I don't really check the Techie forum too often...)

I've got one better than that showing the preparation of a traditional British pavement pizza.

Crikey! That's 100 yards from where I work. I can confirm a lot of that goes on around there!0 -
I'm just wondering how many centuries it will be before they 'do' my area?!
