22 year old Car Hire in California

Options
I am looking to hire a car for 8 days from 30th March to 7th April in San Francisco so i can travel around California. The cheapest i can find is $264 from cheap car rentals as they specialize in younger drivers as the rest of the car hire companies charge an extra $20 to $50 a day for young driver insurance or something silly.

Anyone can find it cheaper than $264 or recommend other companies that specialize in younger drivers.

Try Holiday Autos who may be slightly cheaper (The price you have looks fairly competitive to me)

Which company is this with, please? We're looking for the same... I found a decent company last night who offered a young driver scheme where you pay £50/ £100 extra and that's all... Give me 5 mins and I'll try and find the company again!!

To be honest, I wouldn't skimp on car insurance in a country that doesn't have nationalised health care. Don't forget that America is a very litigious society so if anything did happen, it would be a hugely false economy, as in...if you were involved in an accident no matter how minor, you would find yourself facing a huge private medical bill from the other driver. Just check that the third party insurance part is substantial enough.
  • https://www.usrentacar.co.uk - We're paying £306 for a 4dr economy from Alamo for 15 days which includes the gold insurance we have to have so we can get the Young Driver Policy for an additional £50. But, having the gold insurance means I am included as an additional driver over 25, and we get a tank of petrol too. So all in all, a good deal for us and our situation. HTH.
