Vegetarian Europe Tour

Any advise on how to plan or book all inclusive some main areas of europe (esp Paris, Holland or Swiss, Italy etc) tour in April-May for 7-10 days Ex UK.

Important criteria 'll be pure vegatarian meals (no egg, no sea food, no meat etc.. only vegetables and dairy products) arrangement and the tour should suit a family of 4 adults and 1 2 year old kid.

I am afraid you have no chance.Take a couple of complan packets from Boots and buy fruits and bread wherever you go.

    Hi,

We're semi-veg. We use http://www.happycow.net/ to find individual restaurants.

It isn't always that up to date though.

We find using chinese and indian restaurants good for vegetarian options on the menu.

Being what sounds like nearly vegan is going to make it more difficult though, especially if you only want vegetarian cheese products. You'd probably find it easier self-catering, but try the vegsoc website, they may have links to friendly tour organisers.

    Hope you enjoy your trip.

Edit: Just spotted Happy cow also has a B&B and hotel finder.

I am a no meat,no eggs or fish gal. Years ago it was a nightmare travelling with inclusive tours nowadays there is always a vegetarian option. Everywhere in Europe good wholesome food can be found without too much difficulty.

I'm a veggie (no meat or fish) and I've found France and Spain can be quite difficult - they often don't really understand the concept!

Holland shouldn't be a problem - but if I was you I'd spend most of my time in Italy - the food is a veggie's dream - so many options and new things to try. I went to Rome last November. The food was amazing.

    Have fun. :j

Although things in Europe are better than a few years ago, I find that part of the problem is that the concept of vegetarianism varies from place to place. In Germany for instance they would consider poultry perfectly OK for vegetarians and they tend to add bits of ham to pasta or salads as they consider it too bland on its own. I tend to ask for dishes where nothing in it originally had a face. They see this as a joke but it does make it clear the extent of things you don't want to eat. You would have to add eggs to this as well. Make sure that you double check everything you ask for and be vigilant when it arrives. Good luck!

    Dear se 999,

I'm very suprised that you would eat chinese, as they cook with chicken fat!

Personally, I don't trust them to cook anything, and certainly not to trust them to cook me anything vegetarian! Jus the thought of it makes me cringe!

Germany has shown the biggest change in my experience, apparently there are now more veggies in Germany than the UK.

As for France, we booked self catering so we could at least make soups etc ourselves, but with no cheese, eggs etc., you could go hungry, I'm afraid!
