please help with fire

we have a baxi bemuda back boiler and fire which was in when we moved in
the thing is its making a popping noise,like water splashing on fire iykwim
and we dont know what it could be we never use the fire just the heating and water and the noise is only when the heatings on
we cant afford to get anybody out at the minute,any ideas what it could be?

It might be exactly that, water dripping onto the burner.
I would recommend that you turn it off and find a Corgi to look at it. Better safe than sorry.
If you take off the panel underneath that gives you access to the controls , have a look with a torch and see if there is any evidence of a water leak.
