Bathroom tiling and shower

We have asked our landlord about having a shower fitted and he agreed. Asked us to get a quote from the LA plumber, he came back with a quote of £350 for to tile around the bath up to the ceiling and fit a shower. We have to go halfs with the landlord.
Is the £350 quote fair? And is having to share the cost fair? At the end of the day it is his property and we can't exactly take half of it with us when we leave can we?

There's no way I would pay half, it's not your house and like you say it's a fixture and fitting rather than a contents thing.

You need to specify what type of shower and the area to be tiled to offer an opinion on the price.

As to the cost share. Yes its his property. Did he rent it to you without a shower - presumably yes.

Are you at liberty to make any sort of functional or decorative demands on your landlord just because it's his property - no! Gold plated taps and £ 120 per roll wallpaper - certainly my dear tenant I'll have it done immediately if not sooner! :rotfl:

I don't think it all all unreasonable for him to ask for a cost contribution for something you want which he doesn't have to provide.
