Morrisons poor customer care!

Options
..went there this morning as I had ran out of Bread & tomatoes for my sandwiches, so I was going to buy said items along with some orange club buscuits! Now I start work at 10 & I was a bit rushed for time, so I thought I'd be straight in & out! How wrong was I??? The main checkouts had at least 2 people on them with their trolleys stacked full of groceries & the hand basket bit had 10 people on 1 single checkout with their handbaskets stacked full !

So I decided to use a bit of initiative & use the cigarette counter to pay for my items only 3 people in the queue so I waited about a couple of minutes till it was my turn, got to the front of the queue only to have some jobsworth saying we don't take baskets even though I only had 3 items. Now as I was in the queue I looked for any signs to state this & there was none! So I promtly put back my tomatoes, bread & club buscuits & stormed out in a rage! I even put my club buscuits where the tomatoes were that'll teach 'em:mad:

Now mse's was I right or wrong! I do this at my local Asda & they've no problem with it, so why do Morrisons  I can accept if I had a basket full of groceries but I didn't only 3 items:rolleyes:

they said that to me as well and all I was buying was a pasta snack pot and juice for my lunch!

I think if its not stocked behind them or is lottery then it cant be paid for there (apart from newspapers)

Once tried it with a bottle of Milk. Might as well have just walked out without paying as I couldn't have got any more stick for that.
On the whole I find Morrisons staff are the worst but I have been told they are the least paid. If that's true then I probably would be as well.

I have never had a problem with Morrisons, there is a notice on the ciggie counter saying that they wont take payments for anything else.
You maybe didnt see it in your hurry, but maybe all the other people in the quick till had.

Having said that, i once was in your position with a few things in my basket,
i just dumped the basket on the counter with everything in it and walked.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Update:-

I've just registered a complaint with Morrisons they say it is company policy not to sell general groceries in the cigarette counter however I feel I've made some valid points & they're getting back to me!;)

On the other side of the coin, if i only wanted a packet of cigs at the cig counter i wuld be livid if there were 10 customers in front of me with baskets of food.

I paid for a bottle of wine at the ciggie counter once, even though there is a
sign that states only cigarettes and magazines can be paid for here :)

So I suppose it depends on the staff, who I have to say at both Morrisons
I shop at, are friendly. Maybe it's a Southern thing :)

    Not sure about that one!

Our local Morrisons must have the same policy as I had a jobsworth person telling me I couldn't pay for my one item at the cigarette/lottery counter. I didn't see any signage either!
