Hi I am on JSA after being made redundant, I've been asked to mark some exam papers for a local college, this will take me approx 4 hrs and make around £120, do I need to sign off to do this?
Also I am going abroad for 2 days over Easter on the day I am supposed to sign on, do I have to sign off before I go and back on when I come back? Thanks

You do not need to sign off to mark the papers but you will have to declare it when you sign on. If you go abroad, yes you do have to close your claim down and make a rapid reclaim when you come back.0

Caution .... which JSA CONT or IB .... you might loose more than you gain re the work ...
Also ... I know somebody who had a long weekend ..... they made him fill ALL the forms in again .... so unless it is your signing day ... don't tell them ..... I consider this a white lie for the pain they will make you go through ...
Think carefully ..
Sorry to add if sigining day ... call in sick ..... just don;t signoffHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam No idea why you removed it as it was something I learnt from this site - bizarre0 -
I'm sorry bc3000, I don't understand the meaning of your post? The answer I have given is based on the rules and regulations governing JSA-whether the OP chooses to take notice of them is up to them but this IS the correct procedure. I have not given info on how wages would affect benefit, as the OP has not told us whether she is on JSA(IB) or JSA(C).
If your post is not meant in a sarcastic tone, I apologise for taking umbrage.0 -

I do not think you will need to close your claim for just 2 days holiday abroad(it seems ridiculous !) however check with them.0 -
Yes, under the rules you do have to close your claim. Technically even if you go abroad for one day, believe it or not, you should close your claim. Whether you do so or not, as I have said before, is up to the individual. However, all I would say is that I know of at least one person who was called in by the compliance team for taking day trips abroad without notifying JCP. It might sound ridiculous but there are a lot of things about JSA that do aren't there?!0
