Not sure if this is the right place, so bear with me :)

My vice is buying expensive beauty products and I really love my Idealist Skin Refinisher - it's like magic in a bottle for my skin! but at £30+ a pop it's certainly a luxury item! (Although I do use about a pot every eight months) It's been on the market for a couple of years and I wondered if anyone knew of a more cost effective alternative?

    Cheers for reading!

Personally, I've not come across anything to rival this product (although I am a great No7 fan!), in my opinion you can't beat it!

Could anybody advise me if this would help to refine noticably open pores ? I've tried a similar product by Clinique but with no success

    Thanks

It has helped my skin in that way, hope it works for you :)

There is a product called " bio oil" available from superdrug and boots. The large bottle is about £9/£10. My friend who is a beautiican recommends it heavily for correcting skin pigmitation, un even skin, open pores and dry skin. Probably worth looking at -you could even try the small bottle and see how you get on as I do believe it improves the texture of the skin- similar in a way to the idealist.
As for the smoooth feeling you get from idealist Time Delay intensive restoring treatment has a similar silky feeeling but doesnt improve skin texture - FOR ANYONE NEEDING A QUICK FIX as it is only £8.75.
  • I'm 26 and I've been using if for three years - agree, it's the only thing I've not normally scrimped on in my skincare. My mother also uses it (56), so I think it works on ladies of all ages.

Am ready to go to town for testing this lunchtime! :)
  • i don,t agree with spending a lot on these creams. the idea is to get moisture into your skin.so a cheap one does the same.i buy mine out of lidl /i am 42 this year and it keeps my skin soft and fresh.you all would be better treating yourself to some nice pefume with the money you save. ALSO i tried a clinique moisuriser and it was no better than a cheap one.

Quick update - went to Boots and Marks and Spencers and did the back of the hand test - was all keyed up to go buy the Boots version (points galore) and got all the way to the till when I spied the reduced section.

A very brief rummage found a lonely box of Almay Skin Smoothing Refinisher reduced to £5.99 - figured 'why not?'. EVEN BETTER - scanned in the till at £2.99 :D , so am going to give it a go to see if works!

I reckon if it doesn't do the trick I'll know in time to badger my friends who's off on hols in April to raid the Duty Free for me.

And £2.99 doesn't make me weep all that much, either!

Just a quick little update on this - and potentially an unexpected bonus from introducing your family to MSE - my wonderful mother was surfing about the forums and randomly came across my posts about Idealist and promptly went off to ebay and bought me a 100ml jar for £40! Not so sure this is saving -us- money, but god bless her for being so fab! :kisses3:

Am now going to have great skin again for at least 9 months! (Mum to the rescue!) :D

BTW - The Almay stuff isn't half bad, so would recommend.

my friend buys hers from bicester village, apparntly it is only £20 there for the same size that you pay £30 for in high street shops.
Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!
