Anyone know of a good alt to Estee Lauder Idealist?

Not sure if this is the right place, so bear with me :)

My vice is buying expensive beauty products and I really love my Idealist Skin Refinisher - it's like magic in a bottle for my skin! but at £30+ a pop it's certainly a luxury item! (Although I do use about a pot every eight months) It's been on the market for a couple of years and I wondered if anyone knew of a more cost effective alternative?

Cheers for reading!

  • Hi

I don't know of any cost effective alternative's to this product, as it is also something i use nearly evey day as love the way if makes my skin feel....
But I do now tend to buy mine via e-bay as sooo much cheaper, i recently bought the 75ml for virtually half of what it costs in the shops.
I also buy the hydra complete cream from there aswell.
I have never had any problems with products brought that way and have always bought good cosmestics makes, just to need to ensure the feedback from your seller is excellent.....
may be worth having a look...

One of my friends who works on a beauty counter told me that the same people who produce estee lauder also make the cosmetics for marks and spencer.

M&S do a similar product its called revival ultimate refining serum at £16.

It might be worth a try.

I have used Idealist for years - and it will be the last thing I give up. I did try for a few weeks and my skin went seriously downhill!
I have tried a few alternatives such as the boots beauty serum and the oil of olay one without finding anything comparable but not the M&S one above. I tend to buy the biggest size available as it is a cheaper per ml that way, or buy it duty free. I have found it a little cheaper on the web a few times, and e-bay tends to have lots of the sample size ones on cheap.

    Hi,
The nearest alternatives I have found are Olay's Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum at £22.50 for 50ml or Boots No7 Refine & Rewind Intense Perfecting Serum at £16 for 30ml. Both are pretty good, but I have to agree that Estee Lauder's Idealist is the best!!

Get the No7 when it's on 3 for 2 and add extra discounts for best value.
  • ooo! Am off to town tomorrow to try these all out on the back of my hand :)

Thanks very much for the suggestions - I have a friend going out to Azerbijan in April, so can bribe him to get me an airport sized tub but I don't think my skin can wait that long! Scraping of my tub ended last week and my poor skin is suffering. You'd be able to see my pores from Azerbijan by then!

Mine ran out ages ago and have been looking for a replacement. Does anyone have a cheap place to buy it from?

If it's of any use the M&S stuff is on 3 for 2 at the mo!

    Yes!

I am 33 and have used it for about five years. It is not anti wrinkle stuff, more anti marks. Evens out skin tone and red marks, use under mosturiser. Makes your skin very soft and smooth from day one but takes a couple of weeks to really kick in.

Believe me I don't waste money on things like this usually but this remains the last thing I would give up.

  • Could anybody advise me if this would help to refine noticably open pores ? I've tried a similar product by Clinique but with no success

    Thanks
