Another stunning Labour incompetence

It seems as though a number of colleges were told that funding for construction projects was ringfenced and guaranteed. Now that work on a number of projects have commenced, it seems the money has disappeared.
This is another shocking example of Labour's incompetence.
Crash, just go. Go now.
Colleges face £100m projects loss
Colleges in England have indicated they face losing more than £100m because of delays in getting funding they say was promised for refurbishment.
Some 144 building projects are on hold while funding is being reviewed by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).
An Association of Colleges survey suggests that even delaying the work might cost colleges £151m.
Further Education Minister Sion Simon said the government would not let the further education colleges to go bust.
The responses to the Association of Colleges survey show at least £100m would have to be written off if colleges' capital projects did not get the LSC backing they were expecting.

>This is another shocking example of Labour's incompetence.<
I've been disgusted how Labour and the BBC have colluded to quieten down any discussion of the 500+ deaths in the Mid-Staffs hospital as a result of Labour's policy on targets and funding approaches.
No doubt the 'chief exec' was on £75,000 or better plus a final salary pension scheme, yet didn't think there was anything wrong with receptionists doing triage in A&E.
Remember when Clown was given unlimited time on the BBC to rant about when a Tory minister had a couple of freebies in a hotel? Nobody died!0 -

What? I live in a different country and I'm fully aware of the goings on, solely by watching and listening to the BBC.
Do you think it's only being suppressed in the UK?What goes around - comes around0 -
Well, lets face it, refurbs of colleges are not really THAT important in the grand scheme of things, certainly under Tory government, this sort of project would be shelved, no ones dying here.
I too am worried at the Staff hospital, my sister is due to have her baby there, and im trying desperately to give her the money to go private but shes refusing. _pale_:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I agree. most private schools still have paint flaking off the walls and have blackboards.
I dont see how building a hugely expensive school with modern overpriced whiteboards improves a kids education. They should have just doubled the number of teachers and made schools stricter. Anyone expelled forgoes the right to any benefits from the age of 16 to 30.
That would focus their minds wouldnt it?0 -

true there are a lot of more important things going on in the world, and in respect to that it is small.
but the government is saying that it wants to get the emonomy moving again, and these colleges are giving lots of work to people in the construction industry and would be a good way of going about it, and to have messed up there budgeting on it is quite a big problem and have left loads of people in limbo.
i should know as i am working on a couple of the LSC projects.
lynzpower hope all goes well for your sister

To me the issue isn't that we know now, its the fact that hundreds of people died, possibly hundreds more than needed to, because it was kept suppressed for so long.
When my Mum was in hospital having a double mastectomy it did not dawn on anyone that she couldn't lift her arms to feed herself and we would dread leaving her by herself as nobody would help her drink or eat (we weren't allowed in for the first two meal times). She was also on a mixed ward and there was a guy a couple of bays down chained to a police officer. Its not just Staffs that needs to get its house in order. There are plenty of other p!ss poor hospitals out there delivering a terrible service. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Absolutely shocking and horrifying. We couldn't have dreamt such a situation possible a few decades ago.
I do hope your mum is alright now.0 -

I think the point of the thread is that the money promised by Labour politicians didn't materialize when it was needed. Lots of talk and promises but little action.0 -
"Lots of talk and promises but little action"
Recognise anyone?
Sounds like a job description for anyone wishing to enter parliament to me!!"Life is a sexually transmitted disease....... with a 100% mortality rate"0 -

Don't be daft, that might actually work. If the system starting running smoothly, the Con/Lab scam of alternating turns in power for the two elites, and a nod and a wink as they handover, would come crashing down.0
