  • Don't bother with this bought a bottle in store and had some with lunch today and it is not a great wine, certainly doesnt justify the original £9 price tag, and to be honest is probably only worthwhile for £3 - £3.50

Saw this in my local Tesco store today:

bottles of Hardy's Crest (Australian) wine half price at £3.99 a bottle, instead of £7.99. Could be good to tide us over Christmas and New Year. It's definitely in the red wine section.

Oh, and don't forget........ buy 6 bottles and get an extra 5% off.

    I have to disagree - on 2nd bottle ;D

Only worth the price it is though!

Well, maybe not if compared to Smirnoff Blue for £5.01/litre.....

Agree entirely, I'm afraid.. Tesco have some very good wines for less than 4 quid, I thouroughly recommend trying some of those - and a visit to their custoer service desk usually brings rich rewards if you don't like the wine:)

And if you're ever thinking of wines in the £5 bracket, you're just about in the Virgin Wines realm, and they quite simply cannot be beaten on price - and remember you don't pay for what you don't like..

If you want wine, go to virgin wines (there are plenty of vouchers around here, (plus rpoints/greasypalm money) and in all fairness these cheap deals are a false economy without some guarantee you'll enjoy them.

    At least that's my opinion..

I can recommend the Beau Mayne.

    It's a sauvignon blanc bordeaux (white!) 2003.

I drink red myself, but as my wife drinks sauvignon solely, I have tried a few and this one is a cracker.

I have bought 14 bottles so far and the first three have been smashing.

£5 down to £3.50 plus buy 6 for 5% more discount. Good wine, cheap.

Check out the Laithwaites Loophole on the 'Shop but don't drop' board, it combines three different vouchers for £40 off two cases of wine...works out at £2.70 a bottle!

Has anyone ever actually seen this wine selling at £7.99 for one bottle? I never have. It always seems to be on offer at £3.99 or lumped in with a bogof.
  • I have seen it at £7.99 occasionally but it is strictly at that price in order that they can claim a reduction another time. ;)

I noticed a scanner in PC World at an increased price for the same reason. It is currently at £69.99 so that they can claim that its normal price of £34.99 is half price. I only noticed becuase I got it for £34.99 a few months back (along with a £4.99 Lexmark printer) :).
