Has house been repossesed?

Hi,

Me and my partner found our perfect house to rent (it was through someone we knew so were also getting it cheaper then if he put it on the market) and few weeks ago and we were given a date of last friday to move in.

However the Monday before I rang the private landlord to confirm details and he told me that there was a problem.

He said when he bought the house it was between him his ex partner and also a debt company. He then went on to tell us that the debt company has not been paying there part of the mortgage, and that now the locks on the house had been changed meaning he couldnt get in and we were unable to move in.

He has told us that he is taking it to a solicitor to get the house back and that hopefully in a few weeks he thinks we should move in.

However to me and my partner this sounds as though the house has been repossesed? What do you think, is there any chance we could still move in in a few weeks time? Also since we found out about this we decided to look around, and we have since found a nice but smaller property. We have spoken to the landlord of this one and we can move in on Saturday (we need to find a house asap as partners contract on his current flat runs out at end of month). However although we like this house it is not as perfect as the first one and so dont want to agree to move in if ni another week we could have our old one back?

Sorry its so long I just dont know what to do for the best!

Thanks

Sue

It sounds a bit dodgy to me and I would steer well clear of house no.1!

Defo sounds as if its been/being repossessed. Dont touch it with a barge pole, you will move in and always be worrying.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
