Hi, My telephone service provider Kcom have just cut my telephone off as I haven't paid my internet bill for this quarter yet as I just don't have the £ at the minute but I was going to pay it by the end of this month. We've never missed a payment before now and not once been late with a payment for the phone, This quarters telephone bill isn't even due to be sent until the 22nd they said on the phone. As fas as I'm aware telephone contract wasn't linked to the broadband. Their is nothing in the telephone or internet T&C's about the internet bill and phone bill being linked in some way. If they don't put my phone back on I'll scrap them all together and have none! It's basically blackmail, if you dont pay your net you can't have the phone ...unbelievable!
Their internet T&C's are here http://karoo.co.uk/regulatory.asp
Telephone T&C's are here http://www.kingstoncommunications.com/regulatory/pdf/conditions_of_service_res_august08.pdf
Can anyone shed any light on where I stand on this?
Thanks

Because you have failed to pay the broadband bill, they probably suspect you aren't going to pay the telephone bill in 3 days and have taken preventative action to minimise their loss.
BTW, as the broadband is carried on the landline, you won't be able to have ADSL broadband either if you scrap the line.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
We can only have KC as an ISP in Hull anyways mate. So basically I'm being blackmailed in to paying my internet bill, Bear in mind we pay it in advance so the payment they want is for the quarter we're in now.0

How long overdue is your broadband payment? I can't believe they would cut you off in less than 30 days after the payment is due. Have you offered to pay an installment on what is due?-they offer this facility in their T&C. Unfortunately now they have cut you off they will want a reconnection charge,
But if you have a separate contract for phone and broadband then I can't see how non-payment of one can result in cancellation of the other? Did they advise you that they would be cutting off your phone service? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
