Check your direct debits with Scottish Power

I recently switched my dual fuel account from Scottish Power to Powergen. I checked the direct debits that SP had set up with my bank, and found that SP had been taking some payments twice. They had set up three direct debits, one for gas, one electricity, and one dual fuel, instead of one for dual fuel.

I rang their accounts people this morning, and the guy confirmed that SP had been extracting too much money from my account. He said a cheque for the over charges would be sent to me in 7-10 days' time, and suggested I cancel the direct debits.

I have asked him to send me a summary statement for each of the fuels, stating the opening reading, closing reading, the number of days, and the amount charged, so that I can check the charges and payment of each fuel.
